Javaid Asad Farooqui is the current Chairman of the Millat Group. His extensive banking experience spans almost 50 years having taken on his first banking assignment in 1973 with United Bank Limited in Pakistan.

Farooqui spent time setting up United Bank Limited in Swaziland as well as working with BCCI Swaziland. In 1994, he transferred to South Africa where he led the emergence of Habib Overseas Bank. This was followed with a successful stint with Credit Suisse as their Director Chief Representative Officer in their private Banking division. His involvement was mainly to manage the financial services that required banking expertise and he also led a dynamic team in Credit Suisse to market their products to the private clients.

In 2013, Farooqui was appointed Chairman of CII Holdings, and was responsible to develop new business within the group in Financial Services and he assumed the role of Chairman of Millat Group in 2018. His banking experience has proven to be a useful asset to the organisation especially in areas of debt financing and capital management. 

Javaid Farooqui remains deeply engaged within the Millat Group, offering steadfast leadership and insightful guidance. Additionally, he assumes the pivotal responsibility of safeguarding the family’s business ethos and overarching vision.
